Bike licences and road / health insurance
From "Red Tape Reduction Consultation"
Go to the project
Bermuda must have one of the highest incidences of road traffic accidents in the world - quite a feat given the Legal speed limit. I am curious to know why it has been suggested that visitors to the island may require testing, when they have already got an overseas licence (much more rigorous than in Bermuda) and seniors are to be tested again ... when by far the majority of accidents are caused by people under 40. I propose:
- Project Ride should be mandatory and all riders should be taken out on the road regularly to learn how to drive. Moped / motor bike exams should include driving on the road (!), not just weaving round cones in TCD carpark.
- Given the very high incidences of road traffic accidents causing life long injuries, all those with a driving licence should have to have health insurance.
