Cannabis Reform

From "What laws would you like to see modernized, reformed or introduced for the benefit of Bermuda?"

I don’t disagree with the use of cannabis on a recreational basis or with its use in the medical professionals toolbox, but with that said homes in Bermuda tend to be in close proximity to each other and because cannabis when in cigarette form has such a strong smell it tends to permeate the air and because of this, I believe it’s recreational use should be restricted to specific areas/places. I strongly believe that consideration and protections must be put in place when drafting these laws to ensure that those who have compromised respiratory systems and who wish to sit out on their patios do not become collateral damage to cannabis smokers new found freedoms.

Marijuana smoke is no more dangerous to my neighbors that cigarette smoke, incense or bacon cooking or a barbeque. None of those is illegal in my private home because my neighbor may be a non-smoke or asthmatic or vegan. Marijuana is not a "dangerous drug" in the way that almost 100 years of racist propaganda has portrayed it. Theree are simply no objective grounds for this position. By The Way, there is another topic regarding Cannabis reform in the forum. Perhaps the moderators should merge the two to avoid confusion.
