Data center hubs enable companies to rapidly add server capacity and electric power, creating economies of scale as more workloads migrate into these massive server farms. As cloud computing gains momentum – driven by social networks, Big Data and the Internet of Things – the scale of these facilities will grow ever larger. It has become routine for companies like Apple, Google, Facebook and Microsoft to invest more than $1 billion in a single location where they place a cloud campus (Source: data centre frontier)
By securing a big name like GOOGLE a facility would support the computer processing power of the local and international businesses on island and give additional opportunities to facilitate the following:
- The development of a Smart country or smart Nation;
- The digital enablement of government;
- The development of IP with economic substance
- The development of a Tech city
- The training a development of Bermuda’s people through digital upskilling
- The development of a bio-tech industry
- etc.
