We must ask " what is meant by 'being better'?" and where are we sitting when we ask the question? In the pre-intergration days there was much less confrontation between persons of different races (definitely better for Whites who could feel and act 'superior' with little challenge and no guilt) but much more self-denial and emotional flagellation by Blacks on Blacks about Blackness (weirdly and horrendously toxic in a distorted psychological and identity mess that was definitely very bad for non-Whites who even went so far as to prefer to be called as 'colored'). So we relate better or worse as described by how people felt about their circumstances. Knowledge of self; reflection and analysis of one's circumstances; factual evaluation of the enablers and impediments to success; observation of comparative performance without assistance of preference/prejudice (based on race or gender or class or ethnicity etc ) by blind/scientific criteria as entered into the public discourse have enabled race relations to be improved to the extent that persons share their truths and the 'fuller story of Bermuda's history'.
No I do not think that race relations have gotten better in the past 5 years. Those who have ancestors who created this "privilege" are still practicing it in various institutions like banking, medical, legal, business etc. You have many guest workers who are treating our children who are training in these areas because of their ethnicity like they are the problem. The disgrace and disrespect is out of control. The Misogynist behaviour must be eradicated for once and for all. If I stand alone to fight for my family and friends then so be it but I will not give up and justice needs to be fought for all not the so called "elite". Equality in equity, justice and peace for all!

We have to be very careful now because the Bermudian children are watching and listening . Most of the Black people did not Have a choice but up to the middle fifty’s as Bermudians we still had our island which we had to work in and was on our way as one Bermuda. Until we all dropped the political ball and Started listening to the political assassins for corporate greed and some of the ones we elected to protect our rights, went for self. Government allowed corporate companies to practice racist tactics. While others knew calling the Labour jobs low paying jobs was not fair to the islanders on the front line Promoting Bermuda as a tourist destination. Which was allowed to freeze pay for 45 years for this reason and to do away with our community way of teaching our children our family business with pride.I don’t think racism is the problem in Bermuda It was the Political decisions . Not been taught our true history didn’t help.We need to lead our Bermudian children together as one group of Bermudians. Political decisions changed It and needs to fix it. By doing the right thing we are 45 years behind. All jobs have value no adult in a job should be making less than $25 an hour in Bermuda this day and time.
