Front Street - Pedestrian Only

From "Suggestions to stimulate economic recovery for Bermudians once Shelter in Place ends"

Go to the project

Post Covid

Close Front Street and water frontage to traffic. Allow shops, restaurant/bar, art galleries, Bermuda authentic businesses and other entertainment venues to use the whole area and attract tourism into the city.

At the moment there nothing to attract our tourists or entice them to spend money within Bermuda.

Dockyard, Hamilton and Saint George should work together to offer visitors exceptional and complimentary experiences.

This is a really great idea. A lot of places in other countries do this and it is a really pleasant experience.

I love the idea of Front Street to be pedestrian... Reid Street could be the one way in and Church Street one way out... This way the shops and restaurants could utilise Front Street and Reid Street along with other streets and parking lots provide parking... Also shops on Reid street can stay open up to say 8pm... we should also look at how to do a similar plan for back of town giving everybody a piece of the pie... We can have entertainment from Victoria to Dundonald Streets giving restaurants and retail stores an opportunity to show case their eats and products... Get everybody involved... Use City Hall parking lot as an entertainment location also weekends...

Love the idea of a pedestrian street but think it more useful to make Front Street one way in and Church Street one way out, then pedestrianise Reid Street

Good idea and with social distancing in place, restaurants could use more of the street to place tables al fresco style. Visitors restricted to certain areas and social distancing used in pedestrian traffic as well.
