We need to change the law (SPIRITS ACT 1890) that makes distilling alcohol on-island illegal, especially since it was likely developed at a time when they were trying to keep Black people from tapping palm trees for wine!
Food, alcohol, and skincare products made from Bermuda flora are perfect items to built local industries that have an international demand. Additionally, creating high quality items on-island decreases money being sent overseas for imports.
NB: Of course, export costs are a factor, and, in order to grow local industry via expanding to an international audience, ocean freight shippers must consider lowering export rates, taking into account the containers depart mostly empty,
