My idea

From "Jury Reform Public Consultation"

Go to the project

1. Support for jurors with disabilities: Ensure that jury rooms and facilities are accessible and equipped to support jurors with disabilities, and provide reasonable accommodations to enable their full participation.

2. Language accessibility: Consider providing language interpretation services for jurors who may not be fluent in English, to ensure equal participation and understanding of the trial process.

3. Jury pool diversity: Implement measures to increase diversity in the jury pool, such as outreach programs to underrepresented communities, to ensure that juries reflect the demographics of Bermuda's society.

4. Compensation and support for jurors: Increase compensation for jurors to reflect the time and effort required for service, and provide support for those who may experience emotional distress or financial hardship as a result of serving.

5. Flexible jury service: Allow for flexible scheduling and remote participation options to accommodate jurors with caregiving responsibilities, disabilities, or other challenges that may make it difficult to serve in person.

The goal is to create a fair, efficient, and inclusive jury system that reflects the needs and values of Bermuda's community.
