Sending a cheque or, worse, standing in line is a waste of everyone's time. Then at least you can get rid of a bunch of cashiers who add no value.

Agreed that it is an insane waste of time. I've received several parking tickets which I haven't paid and we've already gone through multiple renewals via the TCD - so the systems are not linked clearly and this is a gigantic waste of time for people not having the ability to pay online.
Stage 1 At least make it possible to do a bank transfer referencing the ticket and have a back office person review it.
Stage 2 At least make it possible for people to pay online with a credit card
Stage 3 At Make it possible for people to scan a QR code which takes you to a payment portal with all details filled in so you can pay with one tap and done.
