Have the choice to pay the TCD license quarterly, bi-annually or yearly. Therefore, allowing individuals in times of hardship some flexibility with payments.

Insurers generally offer 2 or 4 payments per year as well. Good to hear that TCD can extend these concessions as needed.
How about this for an idea as well:
Why not let a Licensed Mechanic do a vehicle inspection and sign off instead of TCD. TCD could do random checks to ensure mechanics didnt cheat and if they found that the mechanic was abusing the system they could pull his Mechanic's Licence.

I think government should encourage all insurance companies to follow the example of Argus in reducing car insurance by 50% due to the pandemic lockdown when cars were not being used. This would greatly assist families suffering from the effects of the recent business closures and redundancies. Seniors should automatically receive this reduction as they are not likely to use their cars as much as other car owners.

The Registration Manager at TCD has discretion to approve abbreviated licensing periods, such as quarterly, or twice yearly, in cases of financial hardship. This option is available if the applicant sends a written request. For further details of this, dial 292-1271 and ask for Mr. Clarke.
