Urgently Amend the 2015 Act for RAB Accountability, Reject LNG, and Protect Ratepayers via Community Input.

Stratton Hatfield •2 months ago This submission serves as an evidence-based critique that strongly advocates for amending the Electricity Act of 2015 to transfer total ownership of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) to the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda (RAB), thereby eliminating utility bias. The finalised NESP can then direct the RAB to acheive more afforable, reliable and cleaner electricity for the people of Bermuda and our future. The letter systematically refutes the claim that distributed solar drives up electricity tariffs, identifying the real culprits as population decline, hotel closures, and fossil fuel volatility. Finally, it strongly rejects the proposed pivot to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) citing severe global supply risks and stranded asset traps and urges the government to instead invest in flexible, community-driven alternatives like Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and battery storage.

Deploy a competant persons program for renewable energy installers ASAP

Stratton Hatfield •2 years ago Allow competant renewable energy installers to install solar and battery systems without applying for planning applications to reduce project costs and admin. This program is apprently been in discussion for years and is currently in the chambers for review. If it could be enacted faster, this would expedite more clean energy deployment and speed up installation times.

Ensure that the Bermudian public and guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the park

Improve way finding and messaging to inform people why they should protect the area and how they can learn more about the ecosystems, history and future of the park. Create maps for families and people to explore the nature within the park Collaborate with more non profit organisations to enahnce the public use of the space in a sustainable manner
