marisa sharpe11 months ago Questions/Comments It is not clear from the Bill whether a property can be sublet without the landlord's permission. The Bill does not mention stamp duty. Is there an instance when it is required? The Bill does not mention whether a landlord can move someone in without the landlord's consent. This can be a contentious issue between both landlord and tenant. The Bill states if tenant's lease expires, any increase to the tenant upon renewal must be fair. In my view, if the property is not under rent control, the landlord should be able to dictate whatever rent he desires. It is not clear from the Bill whether or not a tenant can withhold rent without going through the tribunal. This should be made clear. There is no indication of a timeline when submitting an application to the Tribunal. It would be helpful to know this.

marisa sharpe6 years ago Government should implement an Event Board within the Ministry of Tourism which may fall under the Tourism Authority. The purpose of the Board would be analyze and approve proposals, and to provide expert, technical and/or financial support if needed to enable the seamless delivery of the event. This Board would consist of persons with event planning expertise, local and international connections, and legal knowledge. The Board should be provided with perhaps three officers to assist with its duties.

marisa sharpe6 years ago To bolster the introduction of Cannabis legislation, Government should hold an annual international Cannabis convention in Bermuda. A Cannabis convention would bring interested parties within the community and those world-wide together to focus on skill, education, and innovation. Relevant professionals would come to Bermuda to share their knowledge about the industry and what it has to offer with people who are at various stages of the industry. It would introduce innovative ideas to the industry and would help ensure things are done correctly. Finally, it would bring an economic stimulus to the island as it would attract people internationally to our shores. Perhaps there could be a one day smoke day to culminate the event for those who wish to indulge.Note: This proposal has no affiliation with my personal belief .
