I am a retired Black male of an immigrant family but having been brought up total in Bermuda within an average working class context until going abroad to a UK university. After a teaching career locally and overseas, I am a community activist and contributor in my senior years.

Michael D Bradshaw10 months ago It is not clear when a landlord may terminate or refuse to re-new a tenancy. This is an important individual right. I might endure a tenant knowing I only have a further X months. I should not be hostage to a tenant if I want to change the tenant. Now I can do it if there is a personal or family need. Please indicate where the right is retained now. Otherwise the landlord alone and not the community takes the full responsibility for homelessness.

Michael D Bradshaw10 months ago The Landlord has invested their money and labour and time to develop a rental unit. If there is no control on what is the price of other labour or services or goods why even propose one for a residence. If habitation is a human right then do not make it at the cost of the Landlord alone. Also, if a person has had a decent opportunity to plan for a residence why are they be allowed to ignorer their self responsibility to meet their needs and of their dependents? The Act has a chance to establish the community response to what the community wants without loading so much on the Landlord.
