Electric Bus Survey

Transportation is a primary contributor to greenhouse gases worldwide. Reducing or eliminating emissions from transport will not only mitigate Bermuda’s contribution to climate change but also improve local air quality and reduce Bermuda’s dependence on foreign oil.

The Government committed to electrifying the public bus fleet. In April 2022, the first 30 electric buses entered into service. The Government’s objectives are to replenish the public bus fleet with:

  • Improved Air Quality - zero roadside emissions
  • Greener – 45% less carbon emissions
  • Improve Road Safety - smaller 8-meter bus
  • Lower Cost - 60% less expensive and 20% less energy/fuel cost
