EVolve Bermuda Public Engagement Report
Bermuda is embarking on a journey to become a zero-emission transportation leader in the Caribbean region and is inviting all Bermudians to be part of this historic transition. The Ministry of Transport is seeking feedback on the proposed policy recommendations for EVolve Bermuda—the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) policy to phase-out importation of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles in Bermuda.
In February 2023, the Ministry began its ZEV policy development work with a public webinar and consultation process, the latter aimed at understanding how best to complete the transition of privately-owned vehicles to ZEVs. From consultations with stakeholder groups and public feedback, policy recommendations were drafted and are presented for the next iteration of feedback in the attached document, “EVolve Bermuda Public Engagement Document: Recommendations for the Phase-Out of Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles in Bermuda”.
EVolve Bermuda offers an opportunity for the island to implement innovative ZEV policies tailored to Bermuda’s unique island use case and set the global standard for island-nation transportation electrification policies. The Ministry of Transport welcomes feedback on all policy recommendations and components in this document.
Please submit feedback by February 8, 2024.
