Consultation on the Draft National Plan for People with Intellectual Disabilities and their families 2022-2027
The Ministry of Social Development and Seniors in partnership with Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute is consulting on the draft National Plan for People with Intellectual Disabilities and their families.
The Plan is to be a key guiding document for the next 5 years.
The overarching goal is to ensure the Plan enables people to:
1. Live long and healthy lives
2. Be able to make choices and be in control of their lives
3. Feel happy, safe and supported
4. Lead fulfilling and active lives
5. Be respected and treated with dignity
To work towards this goal, the plan aims to improve service provision coordination and development and address key gaps impacting the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
The draft was developed by a Steering Committee of committed and passionate community and government stakeholders working in collaboration over the last year.
The Ministry encourages all persons to read and provide feedback. The consultation period is from May 17th-31st 2022.
We have created an easy to read and audio version to make the plan more accessible for feedback.
