Unemployment Tax Benefit

I think that Government needs to have an unemployment tax benefit fund. If we had one in place we wouldn't be make drastic decisions as we are today. Many families are down to 1 paycheck per household. Some of which are government employee cheques (which are by the way, under heavy attack right now and can have serious repercussions towards our overall economy). Many families will suffer due to situations that were entirely not their fault. Many of which never made enough money to be fully sustainable in the first place, but were getting by without handouts. This Pandemic reeked havoc on Bermudian livelihoods. I purpose that Governement collect a tax to assist with uncertainties if they happen. Think of it as a contingency plan. That way tax payers can actually receive a benefit that could assist them during unemployment times. Collecting as little as $50 per month can add up to a substantial amount by the end of one year. Enough to assist with paying back the amounts burrowed, instead of making pay cuts to try to remedy shortcomings. Let government's public servents pay back an addition fee as well (person making more, pay more), instead of getting rid of employee benefits. I'm sure everyone will be in agreement with this instead of taking drastic measures to cut even front line workers government salaries. So much for appreciation may I add. It doesn't look good when other nations are giving frontline workers pay increases or bonuses.
